OJ's Influence On America: And We Though Car Chases Only Happened In California!
I guess all those car chases on TV may influence today's kids. In Omro, Wisconsin, about 10 miles west of Oshkosh, Police pulled over a car being driven by a 3-year-old early Sunday morning. The candy-apple red Mustang GT is just a toy, but that didn't stop 3-year-old Jordan Will from taking his battery-operated wheels for a brief ride along a busy stretch of highway. Drivers stopped and neighbors chased down the car until an officer could pull over Jordan and his 2-year-old passenger on Sunday.
Jordan Will has a toy car he loves to drive. He had a friend sleep over on Saturday night and Sunday morning they decided to take the car for a spin. Neighbors said they saw the boys pull up to a busy intersection, stop at the stoplight, and before anyone could stop them, they crossed Highway 21 onto the sidewalk. The neighbors panicked and called 911. Police eventually pulled the boys over. "By the time we stopped them, they probably made it five to six blocks from home," said neighbor Jason Bauer. "He even obeyed the signs, so that was good. He stopped at the red light and got on the cross walk," said neighbor Jaci Bauer. That's better than most adult drivers! Omro police said they won't issue any citations.
Jordan's Mustang is decked out with all the extras: a rear spoiler, a premium sound system and chrome wheels. The boys drove the tricked-out ride through their Omro neighborhood and police gave chase for a few blocks until an officer pulled the boys over. Jordan's father, Doug Will had been searching for the boys when he got the call to come get the car. "He just said, 'We went for a ride, daddy.'" All Jordan can do now is sit in the little car. His father has taken away the keys and removed the battery.
I think Omro is going to become the crime capital of Wisconsin. Other crimes reported this week included an egg fight and a rash of toilet papering has plagued them recently. Makes me kind of glad there is still nice little towns around. But I don't think little Jordan's going to be doing much sitting in the next few days. He got more punishment than Britney, Nicole, Paris and Lindsay combined! I'm sure his butt hurts!
